The Wage Claim Clinic is made possible in large part by dedicated volunteers. Volunteers help us to conduct interviews with workers that haven’t been paid, serve as interpreters and translators help to research cases. It is because of the volunteers that we are able to extend our services to so many workers.
As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to learn more about issues that face low wage native and immigrant workers, practice Spanish or other languages, and help workers to make legal claims to demand the money owed to them. We have a diverse group of volunteers that come to the WCC every Thursday. Among them, there are lawyers and law students, interpreters, undergraduate students, and other people from the community that want to lend a hand in the process of making things right.
It’s very helpful to be bilingual in Spanish and English, but people that speak other languages or English only are welcome! Volunteers are welcome any Thursday, from approximately 5:45pm- 8:30pm. You will receive an initial orientation and “training in action” by shadowing other intake workers. Our staff members are always around to provide individual training and support.
